In a study of the most promising investment locations in the Americas, fDi Magazine-a Financial Times publication- has named Brantford among the Top 10 American Micro-Cities of the Future 2015/16.
For the third consecutive time in the publications bi-annual ranking, Brantford continues to cement itself as a global cross border investment powerhouse based on various performance indicators. Brantford ranked 8th out of 37 ‘Micro’ locations overall, a testament to City’s ongoing fDi initiatives and investment success. “Brantford continues to rank as a Top 10 City of the Future as we are a progressive 21st century community, uniquely positioned for business development,” said Mayor Chris Friel.
Brantford’s position among the Top 10 Micro-Cities overall was a direct result of the City’s strong rankings in various subcategories: Business Friendliness (5th), Human Capital and Lifestyle (5th) and cost effectiveness (8th).
"American Cities of the Future is the largest regional rankings we publish in terms of geographical ground covered and it is an intensively competitive field that we survey. Despite a global slowdown in FDI last year we have found many bright spots in the investment landscape of the Americas, and all of the cities that appear in these rankings should be proud of their strengths and are encouraged to make most of them when pitching for FDI projects” said Courtney Fingar, editor-in-chief of fDi Magazine.
The 2015/2016 American Cities of the Future competition was based on data collected from 421 locations categorized by population. From a population standpoint, Brantford qualified in the Micro Cities category, defined as Cities with populations less than 100,000.
