The City of Brantford offers two grant programs in the Downtown Community Improvement Plan area. The Downtown Business Performance Grant Program Advisory Committee oversees the grant programs and makes grant recommendations to Council.
Façade Grant Program
The Façade Grant Program can be used for projects such as enhancement of storefronts, brick repairs, accessibility, and other aspects that contribute to the beautification and maintenance of commercial and office buildings in Downtown Brantford.
The program has two components:
- Façade Grant, with a maximum value of $7,500 to improve the exterior appearance or structural quality of buildings.
- Design Grant, with a maximum value of $2,000 to assist applicants who require the services of an architect, engineer, or designer. Applicants can apply for the Design Grant in advance of the Façade Grant to help develop the project concept.

Downtown Business Performance Grant Program
The Downtown Business Performance Grant Program provides an incentive to increase economic activity in the downtown area. The Program provides financial incentives to stimulate redevelopment, renovation and improvement to buildings in the downtown area for projects with total costs over one million dollars. The desired outcome of this program is to directly improve the use, value, and appeal of individual downtown properties and contribute to the success of revitalizing Brantford's downtown.
This program operates as a special funding request, so applicants should meet with municipal staff early in the project development phase to discuss the program requirements and conditions.
If you are interested in the program please contact the Senior Policy Planner, Planning Department at 519-759-4150, ext. 5684.
