Designated as an urban growth centre in the Provincial Growth Plan, Brantford is emerging as a destination of choice for families and companies alike looking to capitalize on the area's optimal location, diversified workforce and quality of life amenities. Due to the areas growth, the Brantford area was designated as a Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) in 2006, as the City of Brantford and County of Brant's geographic attributes and population base met the Provincial guidelines for a CMA designation. In 2016, the Brantford CMA reached 134,203 people, increasing its population by 7.7% over 10 years. The following information highlights the Brantford CMA's demograhic characteristics and growth forecasts from various perspectives.
