An independent feature film coming to Brantford is looking for YOU to help tell the incredible story of a Texan little league baseball team making it against all odds to the 2002 Little League World Series. The production is welcoming people of all ages to participate as BASEBALL SPECTATORS.  Also casting select 12-13 year-old experienced baseball players and professional adult umpires.

This is an exciting opportunity to be in a feature film, to show your love for baseball, and to demonstrate your hometown pride.

Filming will take place on with at Cockshutt Park in Brantford with access limited only to those registered/selected to participate.  Must be available rain or shine on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 5:45pm.

How spectators can participate

The stadium will be transformed into a vibrant film set, and we're inviting you to become an essential part of the movie magic. As a spectator, you'll not only enjoy the excitement of the game, some ballpark goodies, and a chance to be in the movie hitting theatres next year! But the surprises don't end there! How to get cast in the movie

Adult umpires and talented experienced male baseball players age 12-13 are invited to submit themselves as a special skilled extras. Umpires and players must be available all day from 9 am to 11 pm rain or shine. These skilled roles are compensated. Only those selected to participate will be contacted.

Adult umpires must be trained umpires for youth baseball and provide their own equipment.

Active male baseball players aged 12 to 13 must provide their own equipment (glove, jock, cleats, belt, etc).

Interested umpires and youth male players can email the production and include: a picture, age, skills, email address, and why you want to be in the movie.

If you have not reserved a spot, there is no further opportunity to be part of the filming experience. 

This will be a closed film set. Only those hired by the production as background performers and those issued tickets to watch the shoot will be able to enter the stadium.  Everyone in the stadium may be seen on camera.

Filming is set for Thursday, June 15.

Please note that the City of Brantford is not involved in organizing or running this filming production including the day of filming in Brantford. Official details and answers will come from the production.

Spectators

If you signed up using the EventBright form to be a spectator, the following frequently asked questions may help you.

Question: When will I get official notification from the production?

Answer: The production will notify you via email in the next day with more details.

Question:  Can I invite others to participate?

Answer: Only those with tickets will be able to participate.

Question:  Can I take pictures or video?

Answer: This will be a closed film set.  Pictures and videos are not permitted.  The film must be a surprise, we are trusting the people of Brantford to keep what happens on set to themselves until the movie comes out.

Question: What do I have to do?

Answer: As a spectator, you will be invited into the stands to sit and watch filming process.  Essentially you are just being yourself, excited to be at the Arnold Anderson and watching something great!  All spectators are expected to remain for the duration of the evening filming from about 6:00 pm (5:30 arrival) to about 9:00 pm. You will be seated in the existing stands at Arnold Anderson Stadium like a regular game. 

Question: What do I have to wear?

Answer: Because you will likely be on camera in the stands, avoid logos, patterns/prints.  Dress for the summer weather, casual. The movie is set in 2002 Texas, so feel free to add a hint of western in the spirit of the movie!  Bring an umbrella just in case of rain, or in case of hot sun. 

Question: Where should I park?

Answer: Details will follow in an email from the production.  Parking is being reserved in a few places as there are a number of games happening on neighbouring diamonds.

Players and Umpires

If you submitted to be hired as a player or an umpire, the following frequently asked questions may help you.

Question: When will I get official notification from the production?

Answer: Due to the high response and tight timelines, the production will not be responding to every submission.  Only active male baseball players ages 12 or 13 and adult umpires will be considered.  The production will contact players and umpires in the next day with more details.

Question:  Can I invite others to participate?

Answer: Only those booked by the production to be background performers will be able to participate.

Question:  Can I take pictures or video?

Answer: This will be a closed film set.  Pictures and videos are not permitted.  The production has not been released and any leaked images or footage will spoil the story and the production’s release.

Question: What do I have to do?

Answer: As a background performer (extra), you will be playing a key on-field role in the film. If you are a player, you will be part of an on-screen team playing baseball. You may be requested to complete certain plays, take up certain positions, etc. If you are an umpire, you will be assigned to a role on the field.

Question: What do I need to bring?

Answer: You will need to bring your own equipment (glove, jock, cleats, belt, mask etc). Bring your water bottle, sunscreen, bug repellant, a change of clothes, a rain-jacket or poncho, warm hoodie/sweater, etc. to be ready for different weather conditions. More details about what to wear and bring will be communicated when the production reaches out to you.

Question: What hours will I work?

Answer:  The shooting schedule is being finalized. Likely you will need to be on site for up to 9 hours between 9:00 am to 9:00 pm with an hour meal break, and regular breaks. 

Question: Can parents of players be onsite?

Answer:  Each player must arrive with a legal guardian who is with them all day. 

Question: What paperwork do I need to complete?

Answer: Production staff will provide you with paperwork for your work and pay for the day.  Please bring your social insurance number and identification to prove your age and ID. Details will follow in an email from the production.
