Workers in downtown Brantford posted some of highest increases in return-to-the-office averages compared to communities across the country in a report using data from Statistics Canada and Environics Analytics. The trend varied greatly across Canada with larger cities seeing the greatest decline but cities closer to these urban centres seeing the largest increases. Using information based on commuter cellphone patterns, the report tracked people leaving home to go to a place of work. On that front, Brantford scored among the highest with a 38.5% change in mobility from January 2020 to September 2022.
This positive step for Brantford is yet another indication of how the heart of the community is growing stronger. The revitalization of the downtown is an incredible, unfolding, and unfinished success story now spanning three decades.
