A significant increase in the number of construction permits issued in January 2018 gives the City of Brantford a great start to construction values for the year, up over 2017.
The City released its January 2018 Summary Report on Construction Activity. The statistics show a construction value of $16.592 million for permits issued in the month. The values attained represent a 71% increase over the values for the same period for the previous year. The number of permits issued rose by 62.7%.

- A total of 83 building permits were issued in January 2018, having a total construction value of $16.592 million.
- The largest permit in terms of construction value was issued to Mahal Venture Capital Inc. for the construction of flour milling facilities at 155 Adams Blvd., which had a construction value of $3.0 million.
- New single detatched dwellings respresented the largest category with 29 permits and nearly $10M in total value.
