Growing Forward 2 (GF2) is a federal-provincial-territorial initiative that encourages innovation, competitiveness and market development, adaptability and industry sustainability in Canada's agri-food and agri-products sector. In Ontario, GF2 has provided resources, tools and cost-share funding assistance to producers, processors, organizations and collaborations to grow their profits, expand markets and manage shared risks.

Three local food manufacturing companies received funds from the program in 2017.

  • D & J Sausage Factory on Hachborn Road -- $96,093 to help buy and install automated filler and hanging equipment to increase labour productivity.
  • Uniqpol Inc. on Middleton Street -- $25,792 to buy and install new gas ovens and a bowl chopper to increase efficiency.
  • Grissin Bon Ltd. on Roy Boulevard -- $10,236 to develop software, prepare for and attend British Retail Consortium certification and upgrade its traceability software system to retain current customers and acquire new ones.

"Investment in these four businesses in Brant will help boost the competitiveness of our local food and beverage processing sector," said Brant MPP Dave Levac. "Growing Forward 2 continues to be an important factor in strengthening our agri-food sector."
