Grand Erie Jobs is a new job board featuring hundreds of local jobs and a growing list of career development resources.  Now, Brantford job seekers have a powerful new tool to search for local jobs, making it easier for businesses to attract local workers.

This exciting resource typically lists over 1,000 active jobs situated in Brantford, Brant, Six Nations, New Credit, Haldimand and Norfolk. More than half the openings are in Brantford.

The mobile-friendly Grand Erie Jobs was launched in late June by the Workforce Planning Board of Grand Erie and has been an immediate success, attracting 600 users in its first 5 days. The portal was launched in response to a gap identified by local businesses, job seekers and community services and leaders. There hasn’t been a local job board for 3 years.

WPBGE and community partners, including the City of Brantford's Economic Development team, looked at a couple of existing job portals and were enthusiastic about one created by Workforce Windsor Essex. Grand Erie’s workforce board rushed to launch a local version because of COVID-19.

“Grand Erie Jobs is going to be an essential tool as our economy recovers and into the future, connecting job seekers with local employers,” said Danette Dalton, the WPBGE’s executive director.

WPBGE is paying for the portal’s first year of operation, with funding from the Government of Ontario, but the board is seeking financial support from community partners for maintaining and sustaining Grand Erie Jobs.

Grand Erie Jobs is automated to regularly crawl some 20 national, provincial and local online job sites to find local jobs. Employers do not post openings directly. Users can search local jobs in several ways: by looking at a listing of positions and by using an interactive map. The map allows a user to see where the job is in relation to Brantford Transit routes and hundreds of community services: employment agencies, child care centres, schools, libraries, health services and more.

Another feature called Career Explorer allows people to discover 500 different occupation, learning about required skills, local wages and if the job is demand in Brantford. This data will be updated regularly.
