ExportON!: Opportunities in India's Healthcare Sector

Online (8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. EST)
September 10, 2020

Ontario remains committed to creating opportunities for our business community to help them remain strong and get back up and running during these unprecedented times. As a part of this commitment, the Government of Ontario is offering a series of free webinars to help reboot your export business.

The webinar will outline opportunities associated with selling medical equipment, devices and technologies to India. The session aims to assist companies wishing to further understand the health care market. A growing population of 1.3 billion people, rising incomes, an increase in the prevalence of disease, and popularity of medical tourism are driving medical investments in India. Due to its strong market potential, investment in India's healthcare infrastructure is set to rise, benefiting hospitals, healthcare R&D and healthcare education in the country. Most public and private hospitals have incorporated customized hospital management systems and other medical-based IT products. The Indian market for medical device technology and medical products is thriving and will be among the fastest-growing markets worldwide in the coming years. The market, which is forecast to rise to $65 billion (US$50 billion) by 2025, is considered the fourth largest in Asia after Japan, China and South Korea. India imports nearly 80 per cent of its medical devices and presents a significant opportunity for international exporters. Participants will learn about:

  • Current trends in the health care industry and insights on how to effectively penetrate the Indian market, particularly in a post-COVID-19 environment
  • The latest Indian government reforms and initiatives and the potential impact on the health care industry
  • Opportunities to showcase your products and services at Indian trade shows such as Medical Fair India 2021

Ontario Virtual Fintech Export Business Mission to India

Sector: Information and communications technology
Market region: India

Online (8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. EST)
September 22, 2020

Ontario remains committed to creating opportunities for our business community to help them remain strong and get back up and running during these unprecedented times. As a part of this commitment, the Government of Ontario is organizing a virtual trade mission focused on India’s fintech sector to help reboot your export business.

The move toward digital payments is quickly growing in India, fueled by customer demand, online sales, non-banking payment institutions, government initiatives like Digital India, and the country’s status as one of the largest mobile phone markets in the world. The fintech software market is forecast to double from the current $1.6 billion to $3.2 billion this year. India’s transition to a cashless economy and the digitization of financial systems may see a further catalyst – the impact of COVID-19, including the public's fear of potentially contaminated currency.

The virtual trade mission will match Indian companies interested in securing partners and sourcing technologies with Ontario exporters and will cover:

  • The latest trends in India’s fintech strategy and insights on the country’s appetite for financial technologies;
  • Advice on how Ontario fintech companies may gain access to the Indian market; and
  • The impact of COVID-19 on the shift to digital payments, including guidance to navigating the challenges and uncover opportunities in this evolving environment.

The event will also feature a pitch session in which Ontario and Indian companies will have the opportunity to showcase their technologies.

*Note: Ontario companies must apply for a spot and spaces are limited!
