Six Nations Polytechnic to offer Pre-Trades Program
Six Nations Polytechnic and Mohawk College’s Marshall School of Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship will be offering a new program in Brantford next summer called “Manufacturing Pre-Trades Pathways”. This new program will provide students with the necessary in-school training, safety practices and quality concepts to seek entry-level operations employment in the manufacturing sector.
The program will be offered in 2 eight week terms:
Term 1- General Manufacturing:
• Terminology
• Health & Safety
• Trades Math
• Drawings & Schematics
• Quality Standards
• Introduction to careers and trades in manufacturing which may include field visits and presentations
Term 2- Opportunity to expand skills into a specialization:
• Welder/Fitter
• Advanced Manufacturing Operations
• Machining/Tool & Die
• Press Operator
• Maintenance Mechanic
Students will receive a Certificate of Achievement for each term and will be connected with local employers for potential job opportunities.
