The Workforce Planning Board of Grand Erie is encouraging area businesses to share their thoughts on what can be done to address the local skilled trades shortage.
Employers can share their views on this important issue by filling out a 5-minute survey on hard to fill trades positions, how to increase the number of apprentices, how to improve Ontario’s apprenticeship program and more.
If you employ skilled tradespeople, Click here to take the survey now. The survey will remain open until September 30, 2019.
Additionally, a series of drop-in Appreciation Events will be held throughout September in Brantford, Six Nations/New Credit, and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk. Enjoy a complimentary lunch, network with fellow skilled tradespersons and employers, and engage in meaningful discussions on how the Government of Ontario can support our skilled trades community. You can register by contacting the Workforce Planning Board at 519-756-1116, or though Eventbrite by clicking the preferred session below:

Businesses are also being urged to nominate an exceptional skilled tradesperson for local Skilled Tradesperson of the Year awards.
“The purpose of the survey and our Appreciation Events is to hear from skilled trades employers, tradespeople, apprentices and mentors about their experiences and challenges,” said Danette Dalton, the Workforce Planning Board’s executive director. “We want to hear directly from the real-life experts.”
Any area business that employs tradespeople is invited to participate in both the survey and appreciation events. There are more than 150 trades in four sectors: industrial, construction, motive power and service.
