Brantford Industrial Expo Builds Connections and Creates New Opportunities
Brantford’s industrial community came together on Wednesday, September 23, to host the inaugural Brantford Industrial Expo at the TownePlace Suites by Marriott Brantford and Conference Centre, showcasing the businesses, expertise and partnerships that contribute to the strength of our local economy.
The response was significant. The Expo attracted 532 registrants representing 215 companies and organizations, with more than 400 people attending throughout the day. 65 companies and organizations exhibited, alongside 20 speakers and panelists.
Built around the theme Learn. Network. Promote., the Expo was created to bring Brantford’s industrial community together, strengthen relationships, promote local capabilities and connect businesses with the resources that can support their continued growth.
Connecting business close to home
The strongest measure of the day was the connections made.
Businesses generated new leads, met potential customers and suppliers, renewed existing relationships and forged new ones. Companies discovered products, services and expertise available within their own community, opening the door to conversations and opportunities that will continue beyond the Expo.
The diversity of the exhibition floor reflected the depth of Brantford’s economy. Manufacturers were joined by businesses in automation, advanced materials, packaging, metal fabrication, logistics and warehousing, energy, technology, skilled trades and professional services.
For Brantford, those connections have lasting economic value. Stronger relationships between local companies can support business retention and expansion, create new supply-chain opportunities and help businesses find solutions closer to home.
Sharing knowledge in a changing economy
A full day of panel discussions and presentations complemented the exhibition, focusing on issues directly affecting businesses today.
Conversations explored the intersection of global economic forces and local resources, workforce attraction and retention, collaboration between business and government, industrial development, and the importance of partnerships during periods of economic uncertainty.
The discussions were particularly timely as tariffs, shifting trade relationships and supply-chain pressures continue to require businesses to adapt.
As reported by the Brantford Expositor following the event, there was considerable energy in the room as businesses shared ideas, discussed their products and explored ways to help one another navigate current trade challenges.
That same spirit carried throughout the Expo. Attendees gained practical information from the sessions and, importantly, had opportunities to connect directly with panelists and participating organizations afterward.
An ecosystem supporting business growth
Brantford has a strong foundation on which to build. The city benefits from a diversified economy, an established industrial base, an advantageous location and continued private-sector investment. For seven consecutive years, Brantford has also been recognized by Site Selection Magazine as one of Canada’s best locations for business investment.
The Expo brought that broader business ecosystem together. Brantford’s educational institutions and federal, provincial and local business support organizations participated alongside industry, connecting businesses directly with expertise in workforce development, trade, financing, innovation and investment.
The Expo also welcomed Mayor Kevin Davis, Brantford-Brant MPP Will Bouma and members of Brantford City Council, reflecting the shared importance of Brantford’s industrial sector and the businesses that contribute to the community’s economic vitality.
Bringing these partners together matters. A resilient economy is strengthened not only by reaching new markets, but by ensuring businesses understand the talent, capabilities and resources available within their own community and across the wider network that supports them.
The Expo highlighted another important part of Brantford’s economic advantage: an engaged business community willing to share knowledge, build relationships and explore opportunities together.
This reflects Brantford’s broader economic development direction: supporting existing businesses, attracting new investment, strengthening local and domestic supply chains, connecting industry with post-secondary institutions and building greater resilience to changes in the global economy.
Building on the momentum
The energy throughout the Expo was remarkable, but the greater value is in what follows.
Businesses came prepared to showcase what they do, but also to listen, learn and understand what others could offer. New introductions became business conversations. Knowledge was shared openly. Relationships were established that did not exist when the doors opened that morning.
The City’s Economic Development team is here to listen to industry, strengthen those connections and help businesses access the people, programs and resources that support continued investment and growth. The real strength, however, comes from the businesses, institutions and partners that invest their people, ideas and confidence in Brantford.
The inaugural Expo was made possible through that collective effort, including the support of its exhibitors, sponsors, speakers, panelists, educational institutions, government and business support partners, and every attendee who took the time to participate.
Thank you for showing what Brantford’s industrial community is capable of. The Expo may have brought the community together for one day, but the relationships, knowledge and opportunities created give Brantford much more to build on together.
