Have Your Say on Ontario's Proposed Data Centre Framework

Ontario is seeking feedback on its proposed Economic and Strategic Assessment Framework for New Data Centres, a new approach intended to guide data centre development and investment across the province.

The proposed framework would assess future projects based on three key pillars:
•  Advancing economic development and investment
•  Protecting data security and digital sovereignty
•  Supporting community benefits, workforce development, infrastructure planning, and environmental stewardship

The Province is inviting feedback from businesses, municipalities, stakeholders, and residents. Input received through the consultation process will help inform Ontario's approach to evaluating future data centre developments and related policy considerations.

The comment period is open until September 12, 2026.
